Many Workers Switching Jobs in the UK for Higher Salaries

Workers are leaving current jobs in the UK to find one that suits their particular wants and expectations. Skills shortages have been on the rise for qualified lawyers and experienced practitioners are quitting the industry. UK legal offices are facing serious competition for talent from US law firms moving into Britain.

More then £100,000

Newly qualified lawyers at top law firms in London are being offered salaries of more than £100,000 plus bonuses. In 2018, the average salary for those in full-time private practice was £62,000 annually. City banks are also increasing starter wages to keep workers and the bonus pool will be significantly larger than usual. There are many opportunities in Britain for newcomers and skilled workers.

The Great Resignation

Several employees have revaluated their careers during the pandemic lockdowns and changed jobs or completely left the workforce. This is being labeled the “great resignation.” Salaries have been driven up all across the UK, with increases in pay including bonuses at 4.9 percent year over year between August and October. For workers, it is the best time in over 50 years to seek out a new job in the UK, where the situation is in favor of all job seekers. The minimum pay raise is at 15 percent, but going up to 50 percent increases. Unless something unusual happens, 2022 should be even better for staff, according to the CFO of a top UK employment recruitment firm.
